Pope Francis to the youth

Pope Francis invited the youth to remember the Centennial of the Apparitions in Fatima when he underlined, in the Message to the World Youth Day, two important anniversaries this year: the 100 years of the Apparitions of the Virgin Mary to the little shepherds and the 300 years of the finding of the image of Our Lady of Aparecida, in Brazil

On Fatima, the Pope highlighted that, “with the help of God”, he will go on pilgrimage to the Shrine of Cova da Iria next May.

In the Message for the World Youth Day, which is celebrated on the 9th of April, Palm Sunday, the Holy Father entrusts to the “motherly intercession of the Virgin Mary” the way towards the World Youth Day (WYD), to be held in January 2019 in Panama, as well as the itinerary for the preparation of the coming Synod of the Bishops, in October 2018.

Mentioning the example of Saint Martin of Porres, one of the patron saints of Latin America and of the WYD2019, who offered the best flowers to Mary as a sign of his filial love, the Pope asks the youth to cultivate also a “relationship of confidence and friendship with Our Lady, trusting her your joys, problems and worries”.

“I assure you that you will not regret!”, he said.
