Pilgrimage of the Pope explained to the journalists in Rome

03 may, 2017

On Friday, in Rome, the director of Communication of the Shrine of Fatima, Carmo Rodeia, and Fr. Nuno Rosário Fernandes, responsible for the Communication of the Patriarchate of Lisbon, will present the organization of the Pope’s Pilgrimage to Cova da Iria, on the 12th and 13th of May.

The communication will be done at the end of the meeting of the director of the Vatican’s Press Room, Greg Burke, with the journalists who integrate the papal flight, traveling with the Holy Father from Rome to Monte Real, and making also the reverse route.

The participation of the entity that receives the Pope in his trips in this meeting with the Press is considered uncommon.

Greg Burke will give the context of the Pope’s trip and will refer the elements of the program and explain how the travelling of the journalists from Rome will be processed, who will be accompanied in Fatima by Fr. Nuno Rosário Fernandes.

At the end, Carmo Rodeia and Fr. Nuno Rosário Fernandes, members of the Coordination Commission for the Media, will present the data on the logistics and on the Press Room at work in Fatima, as well as about the Apparitions and the canonization of blessed Francisco and Jacinta Marto.

The goal, according to Carmo Rodeia, is to sensitize the journalists who travel with the Pope for the importance of Fatima and of this visit in the context of the Catholic Church in Portugal and in the World and for the centrality of the Shrine and the Message of Fatima.

The meeting takes place in the Vatican’s Press Room, from 1:00 pm local time (12:00 am in Lisbon)
